Dennis Starritt

Dennis has been active in the investment industry since 1971. His original degree in Chemical Engineering (1965) led to five years in the chemical business before returning to York University for an MBA in 1970. The decade of the 1970’s was spent at A.E. Ames & Co. (a predecessor company to RBC Dominion Securities) doing investment research, followed by a stint in institutional sales. The Chartered Financial Analysts program was completed in 1977.

Dennis moved to the investment management side in 1980 at Elliot and Page, with responsibility for managing the equity component of defined benefit plans for corporations, universities and endowments. In 1982 Dennis became Manager of Research at investment dealer Midland Doherty before returning to investment management in 1984 with Trimark Investment Management.

At Trimark Dennis was the first addition to an investment team that eventually included four people as assets grew from $150 million in 1984 to several billion by the mid 1990’s.

From 1991 special responsibility was taken for the Canadian equities until he left in March, 1994.

In July of 1995 his firm, Chescott Investment Management Inc., became a licensed Investment Counsellor. Dennis joined Bluewater as a principal in November, 1996.
